Digital Art Inspiration

A list of artists/designers that reference pixel art, ASCII, and early computer graphics.

Digital Art Inspiration

I’ve been spending more time in Aseprite to get more into pixel art and low-resolution constraints. I’m reassessing my tools after Affinity was bought by Canva, became a free app, and doesn’t offer a Linux version. A lot of the people I’ve been looking at explore pixel-based and computer-native aesthetics in ways that feel experimental. At the same time, there’s a lot of overlap in subject matter: horses, leaves, dogs, flowers, which makes the work feel more trend-driven than exploratory. I like the mix of low and high fidelity, collaging an image with itself.

Dutch still life feels cliche but I do like the mix of pixel outlines against it
